I say a lot of harsh things but never let that fool you. Sexism is real. Favoring the rich is real. Stupid court decisions are real. Justice is subjective to a horribly corrupt degree.
This is a prime little example of how biased society can be and frankly it’s bullshit that this kind of thing happens.
I know that we like to that we’ve come so far, and in some ways we have but, racism, sexism, and homophobia are still very much alive.
hey remember to always post sources!!!
The kid on top, Ethan Couch, is from my town. He had a blood-alcohol level 3x the legal limit and also was high on Valium. He had 7 people in the truck, none wearing seatbelts, all underage, and some not-so-clothed. I knew two of the people he killed, one of which I was particularly close to - a role model of sorts. Couch hails from a rich white family that literally bought his innocence. They pleaded with mental illness (of course) and the worst part is that they said his family was too rich for him to know right from wrong. Affluenza. Like that’s a real thing. But if they are so rich, someone explain to me why the Couch family only pays 5% of the rate of the facility where their son is staying. Our judicial system is a fucking joke. When a young woman defending herself and her life at all costs against a RAPIST gets life in prison and a reckless, murderous, smug fuck gets to ride horses and drink tea all goddamn day, something has to change. It all starts from the ground up. Reject sexism at all costs. Call your friends out. Even on the “little things”. Eliminate racism from every aspect of your life. It’s not a joke and it’s not funny. Don’t sympathize with rapists. Forgiveness is not an option. Don’t sit back and let injustices pass you by. Not saying anything is just as detrimental. We don’t need money to make real change.
